Wow, Old Termite gets attacked Suicide When, Why?

Researchers from the Academy of Science of the Republic Czehch and Free University of Brussels found that termites parents choose to commit suicide if attacked.

It is known through research Neocapriterme taracua termite species in French Guiana. The research team found that some individual termites have blue spots as well as his body exploded when it is held.

Allegations of suicidal behavior demonstrated by experiment that has termites contracting spots speckled with blue and not the other termites.

The results show the truth of suicidal behavior. Termites with blue spots will blow themselves when there is a strike. Meanwhile, termites are not able to commit suicide spots as well, but tend to be reluctant to do so.

Analysis by microscopy showed that the crystal blue spots in a bag which is located near the salivary glands of termites. When the bag exploded as termites who committed suicide, crystal, saliva and haemolymph mixed, produce toxins that are deadly to termites or other small insects.

Observations also showed that the termites that have the spots are old termite, while the young termites completely white.

Yves Roisin, an evolutionary biologist from the Free University told the New York Times said: "When young, they are entirely white. When age, mandibulanya 'sag', so effectively no longer to eat, but they developed crystals to defend itself. "

Spots and the development of suicidal behavior is a form of adaptation termites. This adaptation was developed by the worker termites.

"To ensure that they are still useful in the colony, taking the old termite defensive role," said Robert Hanus, researchers from the Academy of Science of the Czech Republic, as quoted by New Scientist.

Blasting away and the weapons to defend itself has actually been found in many groups of insects such as termites. However, chemical weapons such as the new taracua Neocapriterme termites were first discovered.

Explosion of the species themselves, Hanus said, is "One of the amazing explosion were found."

Woooooow, Bull Horn 2 Meter Got It

QUEENSLAND - A bull of the Texas Longhorn, will likely break the record as the longest bull by the horns in the world. Texas bull's horns of a very long and reaches two meters.

Wow, this Chameleon 1.6 cm Only

A group of scientists from the Museum of Natural History, Munich, Germany recently announced a new discovery, namely mini chameleons.

Male chameleon size is only about 1.6 cm (wikipedia) and may not be when grow up more than 3 cm, thus named as the smallest reptiles.

His name: Brookesia Micra, Frank Glaw findings, lead researcher of the Bavarian State Collection of Zoology, who began the expedition from 2003 to 2007 in Madagascar.

"Brookesia" according to genus, while the word "Micra" is derived from the Greek "μικρός" (microscope), meaning small.

Scientists recognize that species are not too difficult to catch because only climb as high as 10 cm pohoon twigs.

Wow, King of the World Wasps Found in Indonesia

or King of wasps King Wasps are touted as the world's largest wasp species, was found in Sulawesi, Indonesia.

2.5-inch giant-sized wasps that have long jaws, longer than the size of his feet. This species is found a professor of entomology from the University of California, Lynn Kimsey.

"I still wonder how he goes, since it is a longer jaw, like a monster," he said as quoted Dailymail, Saturday (24/3).

Kimsey explained, the jaws of a giant wasp is so large that it is often wrapped around both sides of his head. When the jaw is open, the jaw was longer than the front legs.

Kimsey found this type of wasp soldiers in Pegununggan Mekongga, in the southeastern region of Sulawesi. The size is very large and ferocious looking to make it like a giant wasp Wasp Komodo Island. "I named Garuda, such as the national symbol of Indonesia, is a bird," he said.

This large jaw, he had an important function for the wasps. "The jaws of these play a role in defense and reproduction," he said.

In other species in the genus of men, said Kimsey, they keep at the entrance to the nest. This serves to protect the nests from nest parasites and robbed, and for this he demanded payment from the female by mating with him every time he returned to the nest. "So this is how to guarantee the reproduction of patrilineal line of wasps," he also said jaws of wasps are large enough to wrap around your chest and hug female wasp during mating.
